Ultimate Floral Design Checklist

Want to add beauty and LIFE to your wedding design?

Floral and greenery is the way to do it! Here is your Ultimate Floral Checklist for your wedding, so you know exactly where to consider having floral, and who to give florals to. Let’s dive in.

Budgeting Tip: If you’re just doing basic florals, plan for about 5% of your budget to be allocated toward floral. If you’re planning floral and/or greenery to be the main decor element, we advise to allocate around 10-15% of your budget to go toward your florist. Get a better understanding of the floral industry and pricing here.

Okay, let’s get to the fun. All of the below floral pieces are beautiful, but of course, not required. As each wedding is unique, each floral decision is up to the bride in charge ;)

Here is your Ultimate Floral Checklist:

The people:

  • Bride’s Bouquet // The most photographed floral piece. This comes in at around $250.

  • Bride’s Hair Accessory, if desired

  •  Bridesmaids Bouquets

  • Tossing Bouquet

  • Flower Girls // Think basket of petals, flower crown etc.

  • Groom’s + Groomsmen Boutonnieres // These are a fun way to match the groom with his bride!

    • Tip: Be sure to ask your florist how they pin their boutonnieres on. If they do the traditional pinning method, be sure to designate someone (or your wedding planner) to help with pinning on your wedding day.

  • Other Boutonnieres & Corsages // So who on earth gets WHAT? Here is a list of who you could optionally include.

    • Boutonnieres:

      • Fathers

      • Grandfathers

      • Ushers

      • Ring Bearer

    • Corsages:

      • Mothers

      • Grandmothers

      • Personal attendants

      • Gender-Dependant:

        • Officiant

        • Host Couples

        • Reader

        • Musician

        • Guest Book Attendant

Trying to save money? Cutting these optional bouts/corsages are the best bet.

    • Altar Decor

    • Aisle or Chair Decor // Many couples decorate the reserved seating rows only

    • Entrance Decor

  • Reception

    • Welcome Sign

    • Guest Book Table

    • Centerpieces // The main attraction!

    • Head Table

    • Head Table Backdrop

    • Dessert Table

    • Cocktail Tables

    • Bar Decor

    • Hors d'Oeuvres Table

    • Cake // Be sure to designate someone to decorate this!
